Even on magical snowy winter days, I find myself dreaming of spring, my favorite season. It’s not just the promise of warmth that excites me, but the transformation of the city from a monochrome landscape into a canvas painted with beautiful pastel hues, bringing it back to life from the doom and gloom. Each budding flower and ray of sunlight feels like a personal invitation to awaken and explore.
Spring in Budapest? It’s a vibe that I’d play on repeat!

Budapest in spring is the ultimate photo album backdrop, whether you’re snapping lovey-dovey couple pics, capturing that once-in-a-lifetime wedding moment, or just filling your feed with solo springtime glam.
So if you are planning a visit to Budapest this spring, here are a few spots not to miss…
Almond Tree at Gellert Hill ( March)
📍Budapest, Szent Gellért rkp. 1, 1114 Hungary

To find the famous Gellert Hill Cherry Almond tree, start by navigating to Szent Gellért tér station using Google Maps. Then, make your way towards Gellért Hill and look for the Virágzó Mandulafa. Keep an eye out for the big cross, as the blooming tree is located right next to it.
Unless you arrive early morning for the sunrise, expect crowds vying for the perfect shot with the Liberty Bridge and Pest backdrop framed by Almond blossoms. But if you’re short on time, there are other trees nearby where you can still capture a beautiful scene.

Cherry Trees at Millenaris Park( March)
📍Budapest, Kis Rókus u. 16-20, 1024 Hungary

Enjoy a relaxed walk at the lovely spot where Millenáris and Széllkapu Park meet. You’ll see the early blooming cherry trees at their best. On the pathway along the sunny beds in Széllkapu Park you can sit by canopies of soft, delicate pale white cherry blossoms.

It is a great place for anyone who wants to take a walk, have a picnic, or just sit and enjoy the outdoors. This was my first time visiting the park during spring, and it was breathtakingly beautiful! Perfect place for some lovely spring photoshoots…
Millenáris Park also has fun events and shows, especially when the weather gets warmer. These events are even better in spring because you can enjoy them outside in the beautiful park setting.
To get here take the M2 metro to Széll Kálmán Tér. From there, Millenáris Park is just a short walk away. You can also take bus lines like 102, 139, 5, or 9, which have stops close to the park. To reach Millenáris Park from Jászai Mari tér, you can take tram lines 4-6 going towards Széll Kálmán Tér and get off one stop before that, and walk.
Margret Island (March – April)
📍1138 Budapest, Hungary
Margit Island is this little island in the middle of the Danube River, right up north from the center of Budapest. It is quite popular among the locals to go for a run, do some yoga or hang out with friends…

In spring, it’s a must visit because of its cherry blossoms and magnolias. My favorite thing to do during spring weekends, is to find a cozy spot under a big tree, and get lost in a book…
Can you imagine you’re sitting there, surrounded by the sweet smell of magnolias, and all around you, there are these beautiful cherry blossom trees scattered across the park. It’s such a gorgeous spring scene here in Budapest. One that you must not miss, if you’re visiting in Spring.
To visit Margaret Island (Margitsziget) in Budapest, you can use various modes of transportation. Public transport options include buses (26, 34, 106, and 134), trams (lines 4 and 6), and the H5 HEV suburban railway, making it easily accessible from different parts of the city. If you’re driving, the island can be reached via the Árpád Bridge at the north and Margaret Bridge at the south, though parking may be limited. Alternatively, for a more scenic approach, walking or biking is a great way to reach and explore the island, especially since it’s designed to be pedestrian-friendly.
Tóth Árpad Promenade (mid to end of April)
📍Tóth Árpád stny., 1014 Budapest Hungary

The Tóth Árpád Promenade in Budapest is a personal favorite of mine, especially when the cherry blossoms bloom in spring. It’s a time everyone looks forward to, eagerly waiting to stroll under the enchanting canopies of pink. This magical walk turns an ordinary day into something truly special, marking a moment in the year we all can’t wait to experience again.
Couples, photographers, and Instagrammers all flock here for those perfect spring shots. Getting there is easy. Located near Buda Castle, you can reach it by bus (lines 16, 16A, or 116) to the ‘Dísz tér’ stop. From there, a short walk leads you to the promenade, ready to be explored and photographed. It’s a must-visit for capturing Budapest’s spring beauty.
To reach Tóth Árpad Sétány from Budapest’s city center, buses 16 and 16A offer a straightforward route to this picturesque promenade in the Buda Castle district. Starting from major transit hubs such as Deák Ferenc tér or Széll Kálmán tér, these buses wind through the historic heart of Buda, dropping you within walking distance of Tóth Árpad Sétány. This area, known for its stunning views over the Danube and Pest side of the city, is accessible and provides a beautiful glimpse into Budapest’s heritage, surrounded by the natural beauty and architectural grandeur of the Castle District.
